It's a Matchbox Christmas

Despite having a very nasty head and chest cold with the help of my wife and son I managed to install a Christmas themed display of my Matchbox collection in lobby display case at the Port Jefferson Free Library. I'd done this once before (last May) and it was fun so I signed up to do it again. The kids passing through really seem to like it. I have a number of 1950's and 1960's Lesney and Matchbox vehicles and accessories on display. The display includes the Conestoga Wagon, the Comer Ice Cream Truck, the Denver Fire Truck (the #29 truck, the 1967 catclog open to that page, and the Matchbox puzzle), the Fire Chief's car, and the 1959 Service Station with the Esso pumps and sign. For books I included the "Matchbox Toy Reference" by Dana Johnson and Charlie Mack's "Lesney Matchbox Toys 1948-1969". Posted by Picasa
