Verizon & Naked DSL. Yeah right!
Yahoo! News via AP has a story about how Verizon is going to be offering "naked DSL" to customers in the northeast; specifically in the old Bell Atlantic coverage area. "Naked DSL" is DSL service without having to have a standard dial line at the same premise. That's real attractice to me because I'd use the DSL to connect to an Internet based VoIP service for my ocasional personal phone calls.
So I surf on over to the Verizon web site to check if DSL is available in my exchange area. I enter my area code and phone number into fields right on the main page and hit enter. I get the great Verizon DSL ad that tells me how I'm going to be bale to surf the web, use email, listen to music, play games and all the other cool stuff that comes with high speed access. After about 90 seconds the site finally reponds and...
needless to say I won't have "naked DSL" anytime soon. DSL is not available in my area. But Iwas invited to sigh up so that I can be contacted when DSL is available, Seeing how I filled this same web form pit over 18 months ago (before I got high speed cable from Optimum Online) I'm not filling this out again.
You go Verizon!
